Picking Out a Valentine’s Day Card

Believe it or not, picking out a Valentine’s Day card can be one part of Valentine’s Day which is the most difficult for many. They may worry that the card they select does not properly express their feelings or they may worry that their partner will not understand the card or will think the card is inappropriate. All of these concerns can make choosing a card for Valentine’s Day a very difficult and stressful task. However, this article will provide some useful information for picking out a great Valentine’s Day card which your partner is sure to enjoy. Valentine’s Day cards can be romantic, humorous or filled with heartfelt emotion. Whichever type of card you select, it is very important to make sure the card is one your partner will appreciate.

When most people think about Valentine’s Day, they think of romantic cards filled with words of love. This is a great type of card to give on Valentine’s Day for couples who really want to use Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to express their love for each other. They may tell each other they love each other every day of the year and they may also show their love through their kind actions throughout the year but Valentine’s Day is a great day to give a card which expresses these feelings of love. If you are planning to give your partner a truly romantic card on Valentine’s Day, you have a few options. You can search through card stores for the card which best expresses your feelings for your partner. However, it is important to note that there are many cards available and finding the right one can be difficult.

Those who want to give their partner a really romantic card for Valentine’s Day do have other options available to them. They can also purchase a blank card and write your own heartfelt sentiments inside. This is one way to ensure the card you give to your partner really says exactly what you mean. Other cards available commercially may come close to expressing your feelings but they are not likely to say exactly what you feel. For this reason, writing your own message can be much more special. You can also include a short poem in your card if there is one you feel is appropriate for your current relationship.

Humorous cards are another popular option for Valentine’s Day. They can be a great idea for a fun loving couple who doesn’t take Valentine’s Day so seriously. They may enjoy spending time together on this day but they likely do not think Valentine’s Day is the only time to tell someone how much they mean to you. Humorous Valentine’s Day cards can still express a very loving emotion but they will likely do so in a way that is also fun and lighthearted. If you know your partner will appreciate this type of card, it can be an excellent way to express your love on Valentine’s Day.

However, there are some concerns with giving a humorous card for Valentine’s Day. If you plan to give your loved one a humorous card on Valentine’s Day, you should be sure your partner will appreciate this type of card and will not interpret a humorous card as meaning you are not serious about your relationship. This can occur when your partner gives you a very romantic card and you give her a humorous card. Although you may not mean anything negative by giving this type of card, your partner may interpret it this way. One way to offset this type of reaction is to purchase a humorous card but to include a handwritten note expressing a more romantic and loving sentiment with the card. This way your partner will appreciate the humor in the card but will also understand your true feelings and will not likely be offended by the card.

Giving Flowers for Valentine’s Day

Flowers are undoubtedly one of the most popular gifts for a man to give to a woman on Valentine’s Day. In fact flowers are so popular that many men typically give flowers along with other gifts as an addition to the gift as opposed to giving flowers as the gift. However, many men often make the mistake of thinking red roses are the only gifts they can give to their loved on Valentine’s Day. This is simply not true. There are not only other flowers which are appropriate but there are also a number of different ways to give flower related gifts. This article will provide some great information on how to give flowers on Valentine’s Day.

Roses can be very expensive on Valentine’s Day but they are not the only flowers you can give on this special day. Any type of flower which your partner really likes and will appreciate can be an appropriate gift on Valentine’s Day. In fact your partner may be extremely touched that you knew them well enough to pick out a different type of flower which you knew they would like. This shows that you put a great deal of thought and effort into buying flowers as opposed to buying red roses which may be more expensive but do not require nearly as much effort.

Another way to give the gift of flowers on Valentine’s Day is in the form of potted plants. These last much longer than fresh flowers which means your partner will be able to enjoy the gift for much longer. You will also have the option of choosing from a large variety of different types of plants. If you know what type of plants your partner will like, selecting a plant will be easy. However, even if you are not sure you can simply select a plant which you think your partner will find aesthetically appealing. The one caveat to buying potted plants is that you should seek out a plant which is relatively easy to care for so your partner will not have a difficult time caring for the plant.

You might also want to consider giving artificial flowers on Valentine’s Day. This may not seem overly romantic but artificial flowers are now actually made to look quite lifelike and some women may actually prefer artificial flowers to real flowers. This may be because artificial flowers require very minimal maintenance and do not require any special abilities to maintain the appearance of the flowers. Unlike potted plants which can be difficult to maintain and may die as a result of too much water, not enough water, too much sunlight, not enough sun or any number of factors artificial plants only need to be cleaned and dusted regularly to maintain their appearance.

A final way to give the gift of flowers on Valentine’s Day is to give your partner seeds or bulbs which they can plant in their own backyard. This can be a great deal of fun because it can be something you and your partner can do together. This type of gift is especially a good idea if your partner has an interest in gardening. However, even if your partner does not have much of an interest in gardening you can include a few books on gardening and a homemade coupon offering your services for an afternoon of work in the garden. This will make the give more special and will allow the two of you to spend some quality time together planting the flowers.

Securing Dinner Reservations on Valentine’s Day

If you are planning to go out to dinner with your date on Valentine’s Day, you are probably already well aware of how many other people are also planning to go out to dinner to celebrate Valentine’s Day. This can make securing dinner reservations extremely difficult. Restaurants that accept reservations may fill up well before Valentine’s Day and those that do not accept reservations may have extremely long wait times for couples hoping for a table. If you already have reservations for this Valentine’s Day, you are lucky. For those who are not so fortunate this article will provide some useful information for securing dinner reservations on Valentine’s Day.
The most important tip for securing dinner reservations for Valentine’s Day is to make your reservations well in advance. If you want to take your date to an extremely popular restaurant you may have to make your reservations well in advance. It is highly unlikely you will be able to secure reservations on Valentine’s Day for later in the evening. However, there is always the possibility of a last minute cancellation but it is still a better idea to make your reservations in advance. How far in advance you make the reservations will depend on the popularity of the restaurant. For some restaurants you may make your reservations as early as February 15th of the previous year while for most restaurants a week or two beforehand should be early enough.
If you are serious about wanting to go out to dinner to celebrate Valentine’s Day but are having difficulty making reservations try checking with less popular restaurants. For example if you live near a big city the restaurants in the city might all be completely booked but you may find availability in smaller restaurants outside the city limits. You may still have to make reservations but you may find you do not have to make them as early as you would for more popular restaurants in the city.
If you know someone who works as a host in a restaurant consider contacting them to find out about the reservation policy where they work. They may be able to offer you tips on how to make reservations and which times are likely to be the least crowded. They may even be able to do you a favor by squeezing you into an already packed Valentine’s Day schedule. You may not be rich or famous but if you happen to know someone who can help you out, you might find yourself enjoying a few benefits such as being able to make last minute reservations.
Finally, when making dinner reservations for Valentine’s Day you can consider making the reservations for earlier or later than usual. This may mean you are sitting down to enjoy your meal at a time which is not so convenient but it also likely means you will be able to make reservations as late as the day of Valentine’s Day. It also means there are likely to be fewer other people having dinner at this time. This usually translates to better service as well as a less stressful dining experience. If you know there are crowds waiting you may be more likely to rush your meal because you feel guilty. By taking advantage of early or late seatings you may avoid these feelings and wind up having a better time during your Valentine’s Day celebration.

Valentine’s Day with Someone Special

For many Valentine’s Day is one of the most romantic days of the years. For these couples this day is as special as their personal anniversaries or other special days they celebrate throughout the year. Therefore, they often want to plan a very special and romantic Valentine’s Day for them and their partner to enjoy. This article will provide some useful tips for those who will be spending Valentine’s Day with someone who is very special to them and are looking for ideas on how to plan a memorable day.

First of all consider, planning your Valentine’s Day celebration with your partner. Surprises are great and your partner may really appreciate your thoughtfulness and planning but one way to ensure your partner is thrilled with your plans for Valentine’s Day is to involve her in the planning process. Planning a special Valentine’s Day together gives you and your partner the opportunity to enjoy even more time together and to make plans which you know you will both love.
Another way to make sure your Valentine’s Day with someone special is a great day is to really put a great deal of time and effort into the planning. It can be difficult to plan a truly spectacular Valentine’s Day at the last minute because you are likely to run into a series of mishaps as a result of others trying to plan a great Valentine’s Day for themselves. To avoid this type of problem, plan way ahead and make all necessary reservations way in advance. If you put a great deal of time into planning your Valentine’s Day celebration, your partner is bound to notice. Conversely, if you try making plans at the last minute, she is likely to notice this as well and will likely feel disappointed that you didn’t spend more time planning.
Consider a weekend getaway for a truly memorable Valentine’s Day with someone special. A weekend getaway can be as elaborate as a long weekend on a tropical beach or a couple of days in a new city. It doesn’t matter where you go or what you do as much as it matters who you are with for this trip. If you are spending time with someone you love and going to a location you will both enjoy, it is sure to be a spectacular trip. For example a couple of sports enthusiasts might love a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY while a couple who loves the outdoors may appreciate a camping trip in the mountains of CO.
If you are spending Valentine’s Day with someone special, you might want to consider giving your loved one a truly unique gift. For example red roses are one of the most traditional Valentine’s Day gifts but you can put a spin on this old fashioned idea. For example, if your girlfriend loves gardening you might give her a gift such as a few gardening tools and some bulbs that you can plant together in the spring. It may not seem like the most romantic gift to others but if you know it is something your loved one will cherish; it can be a great Valentine’s Day gift.
Another way to spend a memorable Valentine’s Day with someone special is to cook a dinner for her yourself. Many couples view Valentine’s Day as a time to go out to expensive restaurants and enjoy elaborate meals but other couples enjoy staying home and enjoying a quite meal together. You can take charge of the planning and do all the cooking yourself or you can involve your girlfriend and turn the cooking into part of the date. For example if you know how to make a particularly difficult dish, you might ask your partner to help you so you can teach her the basics of how to make the dish. The two of you can spend some time preparing the meal together and then enjoy the dinner by candlelight.

Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas

Valentine’s Day is one of the most special days of the year for many couples. Although there are many who will argue that Valentine’s Day is a commercialized holiday created for the purpose of making people buy cards, flowers and candy. However, there are others who do not care how Valentine’s Day started and are just happy for a day where they have the opportunity to plan a romantic day with someone they love. For many this day includes giving a gift of some sort. Whether it is a small token gift or an extravagant gift, deciding what to give your loved one for Valentine’s Day can be a difficult decision. This article will offer a few suggestions for gift ideas on Valentine’s Day.

One of the simplest, and most popular, Valentine’s Day gifts is a simple card. It may not seem like much but many people, women in particular, would say a card is one of the best gifts they could receive on Valentine’s Day. However, not just any card makes a great gift. The best cards are cards which really express your feelings about your loved one and your relationship. You can find cards available with a printed statement which may work well for your situation. You can also find cards which are blank inside where you fill in the card with your own emotions. If you can’t find a card that suits your needs, you can even try making your own card.

Jewelry is another great gift idea for Valentine’s Day. Simple earrings might be appropriate for a new relationship while a more expensive gift would be appropriate for a relationship which is more deeply rooted. Regardless of the price of the gift, the jewelry you give to your partner on Valentine’s Day will be something she will really appreciate. Pay particular attention to the type of jewelry she already wears and this will give you a good indication of the type of jewelry she likes. For example, if she always wears silver or white gold jewelry, purchasing yellow gold may not be a great idea because she may not particularly like this style.

A weekend getaway is another great gift idea for Valentine’s Day. Although this type of gift is definitely most appropriate for couples who have been dating for awhile or who are married. If you and your partner have never traveled together before, it may still be okay to give this type of gift for Valentine’s Day but you might want to discuss the gift with your partner beforehand as opposed to surprising him or her with the gift. This will help to make sure your partner is comfortable with this type of gift.

What would Valentine’s Day be without candy? One of the most traditional gifts on Valentine’s Day is flowers and candy. While this a gift which is most appreciated, most women will agree the candy is their favorite part of the gift. Flowers are beautiful and are always appreciated but chocolates are also always appreciated. If you are planning to give chocolate for Valentine’s Day try making the gift a little more unique. Instead of a traditional heart shaped box of assorted chocolates, try making a bouquet out of your partner’s favorite candy bars. You can even wrap up the candy bouquet like flowers. This puts a unique spin on a traditional gift idea and helps to ensure your partner will love the gift.

Finally, there is no reason why Valentine’s Day gifts have to be any different than gifts you would give for other occasions such as a birthday or Christmas. You can certainly give items such as clothing, DVDs, CDs, electronic gadgets or any other item you know your partner will appreciate. As long as you are giving your partner a gift you know he or she will appreciate, it can make a great gift idea for Valentine’s Day.

Valentine’s Day Gifts for Your Boyfriend

Many women are often excited about the thought of buying a Valentine’s Day gift for their boyfriends. However, when they actually start shopping for a gift, they often run into a few problems. The most significant problem is they have trouble coming up with a gift idea which they think is both appropriate for Valentine’s Day and is also appropriate for the current state of the relationship. In many cases the biggest problem is that women do not realize that men most likely do not view Valentine’s Day in the same way as women. Women put a great deal of importance of Valentine’s Day when they are in a relationship but most men do not feel as strongly about this holiday and do not have expectations which are as high. This article will provide some gift ideas for women to give their boyfriends on Valentine’s Day.

For a relationship which is rather new, choosing a Valentine’s Day gift for your boyfriend can seem like a daunting task. However, it does not have to be. One of the best ways to select a Valentine’s Day gift at this point in your relationship is to carefully consider your boyfriends interests in selecting a gift. Instead of trying to find a gift which will be symbolic of your feelings, try giving a gift which your boyfriend would appreciate for any holiday. He is not likely expecting an ornate gesture of love so a simple gift with his interests in mind is likely to be appreciated. For example if your boyfriend enjoys running you might buy him a subscription to a running magazine or enter him in a race you know he would be interested in running such as a local marathon.

Books can also make great gifts for your boyfriend on Valentine’s Day. In selecting books carefully consider your boyfriend’s dreams, interests and hobbies and try to select a book or a few books which reflect these interests. For example if you know your boyfriend wants to study to be a personal training you might consider purchasing books related to this idea such as books on how to become certified as a personal trainer or how to start your own personal training business. This type of gift really shows that you pay attention when your boyfriend is talking and that you support his hopes and dreams. You can also purchase books related to his hobbies. For example if enjoys doing work around his house you can purchase a few home remodel books or other books for do-it-yourselfers.

Women often overlook the gift of jewelry when they are shopping for their boyfriends on Valentine’s Day. However, there are opportunities for women to buy jewelry as a Valentine’s Day gift. For example, a nice watch is one gift which will likely be appreciated. If your boyfriend is often without a watch or wears a sports watch all the time, you might consider purchasing a more sophisticated watch which would be more appropriate for work or going out. Cufflinks or a tie tack can also be appropriate gifts of jewelry for women to give their boyfriends on Valentine’s Day. Your boyfriend may not dress up often but when he does, he will likely appreciate these little touches to make his outfit more stylish.

There is an old saying that says the best way to get to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Many women already know this and are well aware that a gift of a homemade meal is one of the best gifts they can give their boyfriends on Valentine’s Day. Most men do not cook much. This means if they are living alone, they typically have simple meals or order takeout. This can become very boring after awhile and many men would love for their girlfriends to cook them a romantic dinner on Valentine’s Day. It may seem overly simple but it is definitely one gift which is likely to be appreciated. Try cooking something you and your boyfriend don’t eat often or try making his favorite restaurant meal at home.

Flirting or Just Friendly: Is She In To You?

Flirting 101: How to Charm Your Way to Love, Friendship, and SuccessMany guys are brave and ask girls on dates just because they want to.  On the other hand, you may be looking for guidance or reassurance.  If you don’t want to put your heart on the line just yet, wait and see if a girl flirts with you.  If so, it is almost guaranteed she will accept your date invitation.  But, wait!  How do you tell if a girl is flirting with you or just being nice?

If she smiles.  A smile alone is hard to determine if a girl is just being nice or flirting, but it all depends.  To determine, quickly judge it.  Some are expressionless smiles, where they look forced.  In this instance, she is just being nice, not flirting.  On the other hand, you will have excited and seductive smiles.  A girl who smiles and giggles or blushes is excited about the contact made.  This is flirting.  A seductive smile means she has something going on beyond the scenes.  Of course, you should approach her, but with a seductive smile, she may just do it herself.

If she makes eye contact.  Eye contract can be tricky to determine if a girl is flirting with you.  This is because we all make eye contact.  We automatically scan a room when we enter it.  During that time, we are bound to make eye contact with someone.  So, if eye contact is made from afar, it may just be a coincidence.  But, if she approaches you and looks into your eyes when talking, she is flirting or at least genuinely interested in the conversation you are having.

If she checks out your body.  As previously stated, some women have a seductive smile.  A good sign it is time to make your move is if she smiles when looking over your body.  You know that not so casual once look over.  If she has that seductive smile on her face, act now.  It will work to your advantage.

If she separates herself from the crowd.  If in a group and the girl you are interested in leaves, watch her actions.  Are you at a bar?  Does she come and stand next to you to get her drink?  Chances are, she is not only flirting but also waiting for you to make conversation.  On the other hand, does she separate from the crowd and go elsewhere.  Unless she heads for the door or the bathroom, chances are she is interested in someone else.  In fact, she may be moving closer to him.

If she approaches you.  If you are in a public setting and are approached by a girl, chances are she is flirting with you.  Why is it that she picked you out of 20 other guys?  It may be because she finds you attractive.  If you are unsure, wait for other flirting signs.  Does she smile, make eye contact, ask questions, or stay and talk to you as opposed to hangout with her friends?  If so, she is flirting with you.

Now that you have an idea whether a girl is flirting with you or just being friendly, you may be wondering what next.  If she isn’t flirting with you, don’t let that stop you.  Still make contact.  You may not want to ask for a date right away, but why not just start a casual conversation?  You got nothing to lose.

If she is flirting with you, well that is another story.  You should jump right in.  Don’t assume that a girl who likes you will make the first contact.  Most flirt and then wait for a reaction.  This is because they want to know if the guy, which would be you, is interested.  If you are, show your interest.  Introduce yourself and start a conversation.

After starting a conversation with a girl, regardless of whether she was flirting or not, if you still like her, ask her on a date.  “This was fun, why I don’t I give you my number and maybe we can get together sometime?” works great.  This is a great line to use, as shows your interest without apply pressure.  Never make a girl set a date right then and there unless she offers.  You want a date because she genuinely likes you, not because she feels pressured.

First Date Advice

Temptations of the Single Girl: The Ten Dating Traps You Must AvoidDid you ask a girl you like out on a date?  Did she say yes?  Right about now, you may be excited.  As your date approaches, your excitement may turn to nervousness.  What should I wear? How should I act?  Where should we go?  Continue reading on for a few helpful tips.

Planning the Date

When you asked the girl on a date, what did you say?  If you asked her to the movies, that is where you should go.  Do not change a date location without first speaking to her.  This is one of the fastest ways to ruin a first date.  If you want to sneak in dinner or a drinks, that is okay, but always live up to your words.  If you do make changes, discuss them in advance.

If you asked the girl if she would like to go out with you, but didn’t provide her with a destination, start thinking about it now.  Don’t decide at the last minute, as this may result in disaster.  The best first dates are those where you can have fun and get to know the girl.  Opt for movie and a dinner, an outdoor concert, a picnic, bowling, and so forth.  If you are still at a loss for ideas, ask her for suggestions.

There are two ways to arrive at a date, together or separate.  When possible, you want to drive your date.  She may not accept your offer, but at least make it.

Preparing for Your Date

For most men, preparation begins a few hours before date time.  Yes, this is true, but think about costs.  If you are on a budget, you need to financially prepare for your date ahead of time.  You can prevent this from becoming a problem by opting for an affordable destination.  For example, don’t choose a restaurant where you can’t afford half the food on the menu.

Most guys prepare for a date by showering.  This is a small, but important step.  Show up clean.  If you don’t think you will have enough time, try to leave work early, skip your afternoon at the gym, and so forth.  Do not assume that loading cologne on will hide your smell.  It may, but your date may also have a bad reaction to it.

The Date

You want to make a good first impression with your date.  The easiest way to do this is to arrive early.  Never be late for date.  If you will be late, call immediately.  Do not assume that all women are alike and running late.  Some women run on schedule.  Even still, you want to be on time even if you have to wait a few minutes for her.

The goal of a first date is to learn more about the one you are with.  For that reason, keep on talking.  Pauses in a conversation are common, but try to prevent them.  Ask your date questions and she should do the same.  If not, talk a little bit about yourself.

The most important thing to remember about first dates is that they aren’t supposed to be perfect.  Rarely will a first date go 100% as planned.  There will always be awkward moments.  There will always be pauses in the conversation and one of you is likely to say something slightly embarrassing.  If your first date doesn’t go as planned, don’t panic.  Hopefully, you will have a second chance to make a good impression.

Don’t Judge a Woman by Her Looks!

I know this tip may sound very cliché, but it’s true. At some point or another we’re all guilty of judging something, or someone, based on appearance alone. While it’s not right, we still seem to have that tendency to be superficial. This type of behavior can be very detrimental when it comes to seducing a woman. Women like to be appreciated for who they are, not what they look like. Even those women who have great physical beauty don’t necessarily want to be judged on that characteristic alone.

Women keep the thought in the back of their mind that one day they may want to have a child. If and when they become pregnant, look at all the changes their body goes through. The mere fact that their body has to expand at a very rapid pace to accommodate the growth of the baby is frightening. And the knowledge that their figure may never be the same is equally frightening.

Another thought that women have is that eventually we all get older and less youthful in appearance. We know that in general, a man is considered more distinguished looking when his hair takes on the salt and pepper look, whereas women merely look old. A few wrinkles on a man are no big deal, but for women the first sign of a wrinkle is cause to consider botox treatment, or more. Society has made women terribly self conscious. Bear in mind when considering what you truly believe is important in a woman. If looks is top on your list it will surely lead to a very dissatisfying experience for you, and your woman.

I’m not trying to say that you have to resolve to be happy with someone you find utterly unattractive. Women all have preferences in looks, personality and many other traits that we have to abide by. It’s a matter of compatibility. But what women do have to take into consideration is that attraction is not just a matter of physical appearance. So take the time to find out what’s inside before you discount women based on what’s outside.

First Date Conversation Ideas

If you are gearing up for a first date, you may be nervous about the conversation.  First dates become extremely awkward when the wrong things are said or when nothing is said at all.  If topics of discussion on your first date is a fear of yours, continue reading on for a few suggestions.

In terms of first date conversations, it is best to plan.  When doing so, break the date down into three different categories.  These categories are beginning, middle, and end.  When you consider each part of your date, as opposed to the whole night, coming up with conversation ideas doesn’t sound so hard.

As for the beginning of the date, it depends on how you start the night.  Did you pickup your date or meet her at the destination?  Regardless, opt for a quick greeting.  A simple “Hi, thank for coming,” should be the first words out of your mouth.

If you pick a date up at her home, greet her inside and then ask if she is ready to go.  Once you get to the car, hold the door open for her.  Once inside, ask if she is comfortable.  If not, make steps to ensure she is.  If she is comfortable, she will likely follow it with something like “you have a nice car.”  This is a good starting point.  You can mention when you bought it or how you got it for a great deal.  Then, ask her about her car.

Another good first date conversation in the car is about likes and dislikes.  Are you going to watch a movie?  Tell her you hope it is good.  Then, ask her what her favorite movie is.  If you don’t know it, ask her to summarize it real quick.  You can take the same approach with favorite restaurants, bars, music groups, and so forth.

If you meet your date at the destination, such as dinner or a movie, ask how the trip was. Ask if she found the place okay.  Do this before asking if she is ready to go inside.

Once your date starts, you will be reaching the middle of the night.  This is where you want to get to know your date.  So, ask questions.  When doing so, don’t dig too deep.  Ask about her family.  Does she have any siblings?  Ask about her job or college classes.  These questions always lead to conversation.  You can also use them to talk about yourself.  Does your date tell you she has a sister and then talk about her?  You can do the same, mention your family.

An awkward point in a date is the end.  If at a restaurant, you may be unsure when it call it a night.  If you are finished eating or drinking, see if your date is interested in doing something else.  Does she want to stop and have a few drinks or listen to a band at a local bar?  It won’t hurt to ask.

A good date relies on good conversation.  This should take place throughout the entire date, but the words you utter at the end of the night have the most influence.  Be sure to say you had a good time.  You will also want to ask her for a second date.  If the date didn’t go so well, you may be nervous about asking.  Instead of outright asking, say “You have my phone number.  Call if want to do this again.”

The Right Time To Say "I Love You"

Saying “I love you” for the first time is one of the sweetest things a person can do in his life and hearing it for the first time is one of the best experiences one can have, especially if the feeling is mutual. However, there are risks that are involved in saying “I love you” and if it is not done properly, all will be going down the drain from there.

Timing is one of the most essential elements in expressing one’s love towards another person. Knowing when to express one’s love can seal the deal between two potential lovers.

Here are some things which should be taken into consideration when planning to profess love to another person:

-Readiness

Saying “I love you” will bring a person into new horizons. Most often than not, saying “I love you” entails readiness to enter in a commitment. You profess your love with an assumption that you are ready to take in new challenges and that you are ready share yourself with someone else. The process shouldn’t be done haphazardly.

An assessment of one’s readiness to enter a relationship is a prerequisite to saying “I love you.” Every facet should be taken into consideration since a commitment entails additional time, effort and a decrease in the benefits one gets as a single person.

-Do you really love him?

A careful assessment of one’s feelings should also be done before saying “I love you.” When people date, feelings are often mixed and one feeling can be interpreted as another. Feelings of infatuation, admiration and lust can become synonymous to feelings of love especially when the relationship is in its heat.

One must ask himself if she really loves him a thousand times before saying yes after hearing it from him. It sounds like a cliché but this must be done so as to avoid making mistakes regarding this matter.

- Consequences

One must weight down the consequences which will be brought by saying “I love you.” There are times when the right thing to do is to say nothing at all. At times, being silent about one’s feelings is a way to manifest true love.

Many people fall in love with married persons. This is a classic example which can be used to describe the importance of weighting the consequences of saying “I love you.” Refraining from saying those three words maybe the right thing to do in this situation.

-Read his thoughts
With him saying “I love you,” one must be ready for whatever response she might give instantly. Maybe not all relationships get past the I-love-you stage, but there are relationships which can really benefit from the right timing of saying “I love you.”

If one feels that the feeling is mutual, this is a good sign to continue. But of course, evaluating the guys’ thoughts should be done with complete honesty so as not to force the issue.

-The moment

When all the assessments have been done, it all boils down to timing. If one wishes to say “I love you”  back to another person, several things should be taken into consideration when planning for this moment.

-Be ready for his response

Saying “I love you” is a very exciting moment and the risks that it carries add up to its excitement. When someone says “I love you” he must be prepared to take whatever response is given to him. Not all love stories end in happy endings. Think about possible response you'll see in his face after you say “I love you.” back. The response can bring utmost happiness or crushing hurt to the person who is professing his love.

Saying “I love you” can be a daunting task. A lot of preparation should be done to be able to get to that specific moment that could lead to a new relationship. Not all things go into plan but no matter how lousy one gets when professing his love, it shouldn’t really matter as long as he’s sincere and he knows what he is doing. Girls, that should be kept in mind.

All About Love

How do you know if you’ve ever been in love? Most people would argue that although being in love with someone is non-tangible, there is absolutely no doubt in their mind of it existing. In fact, if you are questioning whether or not you are in love, then you are most certainly not.

While I do not doubt for a second the existence of being in love (albeit being one of those sad individuals yet to experience it), I am somewhat perplexed over our perception of what constitutes humanities most sought after experience.

For me, falling in love with someone is a decision made based on the successful matching of ones own predetermined criteria or preferences.

I fondly refer to the preliminary stage of partner selection as the ‘terminator glasses’ phase, since it filters through a potential mate’s attributes and matches them off against our own unique preferences.

On the New Years Eve just passed I went to meet friends at a bar where we would be celebrating the evening. There, waiting at the door with my friend, I saw HIM for the first time. I did a quick terminator scan:
Height:  Around 6 foot. MATCH.
Build: Not too skinny, not too fat, not too buff. MATCH.
Hair: Short dark brown. Not over the top alla David Beckham. MATCH.
Complexion: Dark olive. MATCH.
Lips: Plump. MATCH.
Smile: Oh my God. MATCH.
Eyes: Big, brown, expressive, with long thick lashes. MATCH!
Stance: Gentle, not cocky. MATCH.
Nationality: Clearly foreign, probably Brazilian. MATCH.

With the terminator glasses still firmly planted on my face, the confirmed Brazilian was permitted to move onto the second part of phase one: interaction. This is often the most fatal part of any potential relationship, since every sentence uttered, every look given, and every movement is put through the filter of the terminator glasses. Any miss-match could lead to premature relationship death. Very little is forgiven during this part, especially if one’s program is set at ‘long term mate’. In saying this, it is also my favorite part of the process as it is the most fun. I see it as a game we both know we’re playing, but refuse to acknowledge as existing. One can withdraw from the game at anytime without repercussion (that is, of course, when both parties are working under the same set of rules. If this is not the case a few unwanted phone numbers are collected, followed by a few awkward conversations. And depending on how weak one is - unwanted dates followed by unwanted kisses, possibly ending in unwanted sex!).

Stage two, ‘the rose coloured glasses’ phase, is extremely dangerous and not usually approached with caution by either candidate. Depending on the impact of stage one, bombs warning ‘relationship doom’ could be dropped right in front of ones eyes, yet getting let go un-noticed. Everything appears and is, invariably, utterly workable. Despite my cynicism, this stage is defiantly more exciting than the terminator phase, albeit being laced with the fear of it all ending. The premature ‘I love you’ could escape ones mouth, falling like a ball onto a roulette table. The stakes are high, but it could also very well pay off and pass you onto stage three. Or not…

Declaring the title of stage three is difficult. And the truth is, I don’t know what to call it because I’m usually making my way to the green exit sign above the fire escape before you can say ‘marry me’.

My experience with stage three is that I usually realize Mr Perfect is human. I resist accepting him just the way he is, and try to point out where he is lacking (he is usually not so open to my constructive criticism. I wonder why?). This of course does not lead him to change his ways, but firmly ground himself in them (and resent me in the process). Love and commitment gets swapped with fear and dependence. Some stay to battle it out to the very end, most head straight for the green exit light.

People claim at this point that they have ‘fallen out of love’. My argument is that they were never in love in the first place. One of my favourite movies, ‘Moulin Rouge’, melodically states, “The greatest thing you will ever learn, is just to love, and be loved in return”.  I believe this is what we think being in love is all about.  Yet being loved in return implies that there is a condition to your giving love.  So romantic love is conditional love. If romantic love only goes one-way, it is termed unrequited love or even ‘desperate’.

What if I said that true love can only be unconditional?  And inside of that, true love can only mean 100% acceptance of the subject, just the way they are and just the way they’re not. What if love, real love, is just loving?

Willow Tree AnniversaryAre you about to celebrate a special anniversary with the one you love? Whether you have been together one year or fifty years it is important to celebrate the day in a special and memorable way. One of the best ways to think of ideas can be to take a look back through the years of your relationship.

For instance, can you remember back to the first date the two of you shared? If so, try to recreate the date over again as a way of celebrating how far you've come. If you are still in the same city this kind of anniversary idea will be much easier to pull off.

Do you remember the first song the two of you danced to or the first film you saw together? Great anniversary ideas are sometimes as simple as renting that first film again or tracking down that old love song and dancing to it again. You will bless and probably surprise your special someone by your planning and the creativity you put into making great anniversary ideas happen.

Brainstorming other anniversary ideas can be easy when you simply think about the things that you and the one you love enjoy doing together. Consider planning a getaway weekend to an area that you have both wanted to visit. Or take your special someone on the cruise they have always wanted to go on. Be extravagant and do everything you can afford to make sure your anniversary is special. Do you love to hike and spend time in the mountains? Perhaps the best anniversary ideas for you would include a camping trip or renting out a cabin in the mountains that you love. Look for ways to incorporate things you already love to do together.

time together.

Top 10 Relationship Tips

Getting the Love You Want: A Guide for Couples, 20th Anniversary EditionWhat's the key to a successful relationship? Some might think that's the million dollar question. Sometimes it's just the simple things, that we easily forget or think are unimportant that  hold the key to a healthy and happy relationship. Read through the helpful tips below on how to make your relationship go the distance.

1. Without quality time together, your relationship will not survive. Aim to devote at least half an hour a night, and at least one day a month when the two of you spend time exclusively together.

2. You both want to feel secure within the relationship. A good relationship is built on compromise and a lot of give and take from both of you.

3. Often those little things that first attracted you to your partner can turn into nasty annoying habits. Learn to love your partner warts and all. Don't try to change them into something they're not, after all you fell in love with them just the way they were.

4. Money is one of the top conflicts between most couples. For the relationship to work, you need to address your finances and maybe even work out a budget.

5. Learn to argue well. Never say something to your partner that you wouldn't want to hear said back. Just remember, the one good thing they say about arguing, is the making up afterwards.

6. Communication is vital to all healthy relationships. Listen to your partner and avoid blame and judgement. Don't let your emotions dictate your behaviour. Remember just talking things over can help you to both have a deeper understanding of each other.

7. Sort out your sex life, it may start to go downhill over the years, don't just accept it. As soon as you notice it, address it with your partner and work out why, and what to do to bring back the passion. Maybe one of your prefers more sex than the other. Why not experiment with new ideas in the bedroom. Role play, dressing up, or maybe take your sex life out of the
bedroom and try new places. The introduction of marital aids into the relationship can also help to spice things up. Whatever you decide, remember communication is vital.

8. Try to keep your dependence and independence in balance. Tell your partner how much you need them, but don't get to dependent on them and cling to them all the time, as that can make your partner feel trapped. On the flip side of this, don't allow your partner to think you don't need them, by going or doing things without them. Try to keep a happy and healthy balance
between the two.

9.Learn to forgive. If you know you will never forgive your partner over something important, and feel the trust can never be regained then give yourself, and him a break and start again, with someone new.

10. Don't ever think that going to counselling is a sign of a failed relationship. It can turna bad relationship around and can also turn an average relationship into an excellent one. More and more people are turning to counselling today than ever, it shows you are both prepared
to try and make things better, which can't be a bad thing at all.

The fact remains, that whether you're dating or married, relationships are hard. It takes 100% commitment from both of you. However, healthy and long-lasting relationships are achievable and many couples have proven just that. Not everything is always going to be perfect but if you both choose to make it work then it can. And remember it's the little things that you sometimes do that can go a long way to making your relationship work.

Women! Get More Love By Giving Less.

The Relationship Handbook
Any woman can attract a better quality man or inspire the man she has to give her more love, affection and romance, by learning the truth about Overnurturing.

What is Overnurturing? It's doing too much in a relationship. Giving too much. It's the reverse of how a relationship works best for a woman.Giving is what men are supposed to do. Women are supposed to receive the love, affection and gifts that men give, and then give love and affection back to them. Though many of us have caught onto this, it’s challenging to stop doing what we’ve always done, what we’ve been told is the way to do things, and to fly in the face of the fallout we fear. So I’m going to tackle one little issue – Nurturing.

Nurturing is masculine. If you want to get what he wants to give, stop nurturing your man.

Radical as this sounds, try it. Stop doing. Stop giving. Stop massaging your husband’s feelings. Stop helping your date do the relationship thing and let him flounder until he figures it out. He will.

This whole concept of nurturing is a dilemma for most of us. We think of mothering, nurturing, caring for our young as a feminine aspect of ourselves.

It isn’t.

Nurturing and caring for others may be a female trait – Motherhood is female – but it’s still about action! Nurturing is about doing. Giving. Your energy goes out of you and toward or into someone else. When you give, you are acting from a masculine energy place.

We are so accustomed to the idea of nurturing being feminine, we get confused. We think being loving to our men is nurturing them. Massaging their bodies, minds and spirits. There is nothing wrong with the idea of nurturing – it’s the form our nurturing takes that causes so much difficulty. We are all composed of masculine and feminine (yin and yang) energies. We move through them fluidly at our best, and are stuck in one or the other at our worst.

But most of us are stuck at one extreme or the other. We either give too much all the time and then find ourselves resentful all the time, or we go the other way and make ourselves emotionally unavailable to our dates, our husbands, our boyfriends, and every man we meet.

Too often, our nurturing energies are perceived by men as mothering. Our actions seem intrusive. We seem to be judging them and finding them coming up short – otherwise why would they need taking care of? On the other hand, they love attention. Don’t we all?

To strike some sort of balance when we are all so mightily out of balance, I’m asking you to pull back to zero. To at least imagine pulling back to zero. The baby steps you actually take may seem huge. When you stop doing for your man what he doesn’t need you to do, yet has grown accustomed to your doing, may resent your not doing, and will certainly find himself relieved that you’ve stopped doing, things may get messy before they get better. But they will get better.

This is all about Overfunctioning.

What does Overfunctioning and Overnurturing look like?

You come to the door the moment he gets home and ask him how his day went. You offer to massage his neck, his feet, his back because he looks so tired (even though you’re just as tired.) Or you give your date directions to your house before he asks. And you invite him in and offer him something to eat or drink without even knowing what he has in mind for the evening. You offer to cook him a meal when he’s barely taken you out to a decent restaurant. You offer sex to your husband, without being asked, and even if you’re not in the mood, because you figure you should. You ask him how he feels, and demonstrate concern for his feelings and moods.

This sounds nurturing, but it’s not. It’s mothering. Nurturing a grown-up is giving him what he wants, not what you think he needs. Nurturing a grown-up is not tolerating what you don’t want. Not tolerating him treating himself badly or carelessly if it’s damaging to you or his relationship with you – this means smoking, eating badly, not working, never leaving the house.

And you do it not by telling him what he needs to do and helping him do it, but by telling him how angry it makes you feel when it’s happening. Or telling him how good it feels when he does something that makes you happy. Let him figure out how to take responsibility for making you and the relationship happy – on his end of it.

This is feminine energy – the expression of honest-to-goodness feelings. All the caretaking and fixing and doing and massaging and concern is masculine energy in action, and it will get you nowhere near what you want.

Try it the feminine way. Stop nurturing a grown-up man, and start expressing your feelings moment by moment. The first time is scary – but then, you’ll see – you’ll wonder how you ever loved any other way.

The Funny Side Of Saying - I Love You

What I Love About YouThe Little Book of I Love YouLove, the feeling that makes a person new and feel heavenly. Love, a feeling that changes life within a moment. Have we not heard of love at first sight? One who was happy go lucky in the morning, gets deep and dreamy looks in the eyes by the time the evening arrives. What happened? He/she fell in love during the day and now does not know what to do?

The very first response of such people is dreaming. They have dreams during the night and more often during the day. They lose all attention to their work and the only work left for them is to think of their latest sweetheart. Then begins the planning of where to meet again? How to spot that lovely person again? Through friends, or what? Depends on where the love was found at the first place. After getting few glimpses more, the love deepens and the dreams become more frequent. But at the same time, fear sets in. What if the other party refuses to reciprocate? What if the other one does not like me? So looks are given immediate attention. 'What if the other party is already in love with someone? That will be horrible. Let me not think of that at all. And if it comes to that, I will move heavens to win my love.'

And the final question. How do I say, I Love You? Shall I send a letter with flowers? Shall I send the message through some friend? Shall I meet and dare to tell across the table? How about sending an anonymous letter saying that so and so is madly in love with you. How about you? Shall I first ask for a date and get to become more friendly and then come up with my proposal? One keeps on thinking of so many alternatives and then suddenly one day, blurts out. Please I love you. How about you? And the response is - I also love you since I saw you for the first time, but did not know how to say?

Love is in the Air on Valentines Day

Well, here we are in February and many people are celebrating St. Valentines. It is a good time to think about love and relationships to put a bit of warmth in our lives after a long winter.

Today, I would like to look at what love is.  The English language only has one word for love and it is used interchangeably for almost everything.  We can say I love my husband and I love Chocolate.

Both are using the same word and it is only by the context that we can ascertain the difference.  The Greeks, on the other hand, have four different words to describe love.  Each word gives a different nuance to the word that helps us understand more fully what is being spoken of.

I want to look with you at the four Greek words for love.
These are:
1)    Eros
2)    Storge
3)    Philia
4)    Agape

Eros:
The first type of love we are all familiar with. Our English word Erotica is derived from this word. Sadly, some people never get passed this type of love and base their relationships purely on sexual attraction.  This is the type of love that merchandisers tend to play on with the public trying to get us to buy their products to make us more attractive to the opposite sex.  Unfortunately, aromatherapy is being misrepresented by these same people also to traffic their products. You would be surprised to see how many products are being offered specifically to attract the opposite sex using aroma.

Studies have been done trying to prove the theory of attraction through Pheromones based on animal instincts.  I personally feel that attraction of a life partner is much more than the basis of his/her smell.  In fact, it was impossible for me to fall in love with my fiancé based on smell as we met through ICQ on the Internet. It was impossible for smell to play any part in our meeting. Our relationship was based on character and friendship which later developed into love.  You can say we met each other and we just clicked ;-) (pun intended)

So, the point is that erotic love is not a deep meaningful love but superficial and based on sexual attractiveness only.

2) Storge:
This type of love is what we find in families between the different members.  It is the love of mother, father, brothers and sisters.  This is a much stronger type of love and involves commitment.  “Blood is thicker than water” and most people will do all they can to stand behind their families.

3) Philia:
This type of love is pertaining to what we might call a brotherly love.  Not brotherly in the sense of family, but in the sense of kinsmenship. This is the type of love that makes us want to help the little old lady cross the street safely and watch out for our fellow man.  It is a good type of love and helps us to see others as needing our love but, sadly, it can often also be a selfish love.  Many people only show love to others if they can get something out of it.  Thankfully, most people love out of pure motives.

4)Agape:
The fourth type of love is called Agape love.  This is the highest form of love there is. This is an unconditional love for others in spite of their character flaws and weaknesses. It is a difficult love to obtain simply because we, as humans, are usually concerned more with ourselves and how the world and people around us affect us. In order to love in the agape way, we must overcome our selfishness and look to the needs of others.  Prime examples of this type of love are people like Mother Theresa, Cardinal Leger etc.  These are people who look out for others interests above their own. It is a special kind of love that needs to be cultivated for it to grow.  We can only achieve this type of unselfish loving as we put the needs of others as a priority.

Without getting religious here, I just want to tell you there is a verse from the Bible that fits well with this concept. It is called the Golden Rule. Luke 10:27, says “Love your neighbour as yourself” and  "Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them,  for this is the Law and the Prophets."  -Matthew 7:12 .  All relgions of the world share in this same philosophy.

One thing that stuck out to me as I read these is that it says to love your neighbor as yourself.  Sadly, many people in this day and age, don’t love themselves.  If you don’t love yourself how can you love others?  Unconditional love needs to start with you. You must learn to accept the fact that you are a special and unique person.  Yes you have flaws, we are all human, but these flaws do not make you less of a person.  Learn to love yourself in spite of your shortcomings and accept yourself for who you are.  As you love yourself you will find it easier to love others.

The second thing that stands out is that the Golden rule says to do what you want others to do to you.  This is not the same as “Don’t do to others what you don’t want them to do to you.”  It is not a position of avoiding doing evil or harming others but an actual DOING of something for others.  This requires action on your part. It says “DO unto others”.  It is when we realize that we reap the rewards of love as we involve ourselves in the lives of others, making their lives easier and more pleasant, as we would want our own lives to be.

Enjoy the month of Love and remember always to love yourself and to DO something for someone each day.

You can purchase gift baskets online, but if you do not have enough time for it to be shipped, you can check your local stores.  There may be stores that specifically make gift baskets listed in the phone book.  If not, you might contact a local florist as many of them also make gift baskets for special occasions.  If you cannot find a local shop and you do not have time to order online, do not panic.  Making your own basket is easy enough.  You can purchase a basket at any crafts store, use a blanket, apron, or paper to line it and stuff it full of goodies for your man!

Here are a few gift basket ideas:

Gone Fishing Gift BasketLet's Go Fishing! Yes, You Can Have a Romantic Valentine's Day, On A Budget

While we would all like to whisk our partner away to celebrate St Valentine's Day at an exotic five star resort, I know I can't afford it, just yet!

Here are some ideas for Valentine's Day luxuries on a budget that will amaze your partner. And if you do it just right, with a little creativity, you can have the ultra-romantic day that will convince your loved one of how much you love him or her. Again.

Getting out into the open air, just the two of you, is a great way to spend Valentines. Head for the hills or the state park. There are walks to suit all - whether its an easy walk or a more demanding hike. Remember, it's February, so its likely that the place will be deserted and you will have all that natural beauty to yourself. And outdoor privacy is so romantic!

Take along a special picnic when you go out. In a small picnic basket collect a tablecloth, a vase with a realistic rose in it, 2 taper candles with holders (don’t forget a lighter) and a lovely meal for two. When you reach the picnic area you can surprise your partner by setting the table for a romantic meal. Sit down and enjoy!

You could take the picnic with you on a romantic drive, or for a day out kite flying or bicycling. Remember that it’s being together that is important.

The outdoors idea even works for couples that have children. There's always plenty for the kids to do if there is a safe and empty playground close by. What better way to celebrate your love than by keeping one eye on the children and reminding yourself why you love them, and their other parent, so much.

Don't fancy the great, romantic, outdoors? Cooking your romantic Valentine’s meal together is a great way to share the day. Male sure that your dinner choice is something you will both enjoy, even better if its a special treat you don't often have. Go over the top in decorating the dining room and go to town on the place settings. Make sure you both dress up in your best clothes, as if it was your first date, with your best jewelry and scent.

The main thing to remember is that if you are together you will have as romantic a time as you would have at a posh resort or an exclusive restaurant. It’s the thought that counts, not how much money you spend.
